FRL Season 7 - Rio Short Results

 The action was fierce on the sub-mile long Rio Short Circuit. Along the shoreline of the bay we saw a great battle between the front runners of Andrew Steppat and Travis Billingsley. Andrew turned in two heat wins on the night, but Travis took home a point for a single heat win and fastest lap, turning a scorching 38.875 in the last heat of the evening.

 We also say hello to a new driver in the FRL, Micah Davis makes his debut at Rio and takes an impressive P6 on the evening. Paul Maestri holds down P4 on the night and maintains second place in the standings. While Bryan Dean misses the first heat due to an unscheduled engine swap in the garage, he comes in P5 on the night and maintains a 1 point lead over Andrew Steppat to keep himself in the top 3 overall. Next stop is the UK at the famed Silverstone Circuit National course on Sunday, Jan. 14th.

FRL Season 7 - Lime Rock Results

 The action at Lime Rock was gripping from lap 1 of the first heat. Travis Billingsley scored big on the night with 2 heat wins and a bonus point for the fastest lap ever, a blistering 59.069, and vaults into P1 in the points. Paul Maestri posts a big night as well and moves up the points into third position in the standings. It's off to Prague for Round 3 of the series on Dec. 17th.

FRL Season 7 - Brands Hatch Results

 The season begins and Andrew Steppat gets off to a hot start scoring wins in 2 of the 3 heats on the night. Travis Billingsley secures the second step of the podium with a heat win and kept hot on Andrew's heels most of the time. Ethan Maestri takes the third step, and a bonus point for the fastest lap of the night at 55.230, only .008 faster than Andrew.

Paul Maestri Secures FASCAR Championship At Homestead

 The FASCAR series made its way into Homestead for the 50 lap finale on the high speed oval. Nicholas Hargrove qualified on Pole with blisteringly fast 30.339 lap time, fully a tenth faster than the rest of the field of 5 cars. However, he would fall off point at the start of the race and would spend the first 20 laps methodically working forward to lap leader Ethan Maestri. After completing the pass on the leader, he would open a fairly large gap on everyone else. 

 Nicholas would elect to try and pit early but trouble getting into his pit box would force a double stop, dropping him all the way to the back of the field again. Ethan Maestri would take over the lead again, until lap 43, when he pitted. This gave the lead to Travis Billingsley. He would push his #18 Chevy on a bold fuel saving strategy, clutch-coasting to gain the most out of every lap. It worked, though he had to coast much of the final lap, it was enough to get to the checkered flag to score his first win of the series. 

 Paul Maestri crosses the line in third place, securing the points championship for the Fall 2017 season. This is his first FRL Championship win. Congratulations to Paul for the championship and congratulations to Travis on the race win. We look forward now to the 7th FRL season coming up this November with the MX Club Cup!

 Congratulations to Ethan Maestri, winner of the Indianapolis 125. He was challenged by Travis Billingsley for most of the race until a late altercation with Gage Staufer ended his campaign. Next up is the short circuit at Sonoma.
