Rules Adjustment For Season 5

The following tuning rule adjustments are for all entries in the upcoming FRL WTCC series starting on September 1st, 2016.

 - All entries will no longer be subject to the restrictor plate and race brake stipulation. These will not be necessary to have installed on your race car to participate.

 - Single car teams will no longer be required to develop their own tunes for each race. Community developed tunes found on rivals boards or tuning searches will be allowed for single car teams. However, these are not to exceed the S-800 P.I. limit. Multi-car teams (two or  more) will still be required to develop their own tunes in-house.

We hope that these adjustments will allow more independant (privateer) teams to participate on an even playing field along with teams that co-develop their own tunes.

Registration Deadline Approaches

The registration deadline for Season 5 is fast approaching. Entries for the FRL's WTCC series will be needed by Thursday, Sept. 1st. Please have your car selection entered along with your name, team name (if applicable) and car number.

***Also note that the WTCC Chevy Cruze is eligible for selection as well.

League Note - Race Times

Race times are posted with each announcment on the webpage. Times are also listed in prep articles released in the days preceding a race event. It will be up to each individual driver to check the posted time for an event and make certain they are prepared and ready for the start.

We can no longer hold up races to allow drivers to get ready by painting cars, shopping for tunes, or dealing with offline situations that delay their arrival in the lobby. Races will begin at the posted start times. No exceptions. Others prepare and block out specific amounts of time from their families, sleep, etc. in order to enjoy some racing with friends. Forcing them to by-out more time because of a delay is not fair to them.

Check the race time. Prepare your car ahead of time. Be in the lobby on time.

Scorpions at Monza - Results

We had quite a turnout for the One-Off Challenge at Monza. After a lengthy delay before starting, 10 cars rolled out for the parade lap, the grid was set and Bryan Dean counted down to green. The race was spread out quickly and the wide variety of tuning was evident through the field. Andrew Steppat won the first heat by a full 30 seconds over the rest of the field.

The second heat was a bit more of a mess, several drivers dropped out early due to the late hour and bad accidents. In the end, the Apex party continued from the Toyobaru Challenge, and actually picked up steam as Tony Tyree showed marked improvement in both heats, and helped the trio score a 1-2-3 finish.

Results:

Driver - Overall Pos. - Fastest Lap
Andrew Steppat - 1.0 - 1:54.415
Travis Billingsley - 2.5 - 1:55.501
Ethan Maestri - 3.0 - 1:55.961
Tony Tyree - 3.5
Bryan Dean - 6.5
Paul Maestri - 6.5
Tom Henderson - 7.0
Owen Henderson - 8.0
Nicholas Hargrove - 8.0
Matt Smith - 9.0

One-Off Challenge - October 2016 - Formula One!

This October will feature a special One-Off Challenge to celebrate the 46th running of the United States Grand Prix. This spectacle of speed and sound represents motorsport at its most elite level.

The FRL will celebrate F1 this October in a unique way. We will be running a mini version of the United States Grand Prix. The venue will be the current USGP site, Circuit of the Americas. However, we will be celebrating F1 with a bit of nostalgia by running some of its most iconic machines in series history - the 1976 Ferrari, McLaren and Lotus race cars.

The FRL's USGP will be a 30 lap race run on Sunday, October 20th @ 9 PM. The event will be preceded with a 15 minute qualifying session to set the starting grid.

Cars will be P.I. limited to R-900. Tuning will be limited to in-house or team developed tunes, no Forza community tuning will be allowed.

FRL Season 5 - Only A Month Away!

Hard to believe we are already a couple of months removed from the FEC season finale at Hockenheimring. The summer drags on into its warmest days and many are now looking forward to the start of football season. As the days slowly become shorter, so too does the FRL off-season. Moves have been made, teams have been formed, many drivers are getting familiar with the Season 5 cars and playing with One-Off Challenge setups.

With only a month to go before the Season 5 kick-off at Bathurst, its time to start slowly getting into the mindset of a new season of racing. Beginning with Bathurst, the FRL looks to make a circuit of new and fantastic tracks that are being run on the FRL schedule for the first time. The WTCC cars selected for this season promise to be some of the most fun and well balanced machines we've had in the league as well.

Time to select a favorite and get it ready for some of the best online racing anyone has to offer! Don't forget that the registration deadline is September 1st for your WTCC entry. September 8th will be our qualifying night ahead of the main event the 100 mile Race of Australia!

Scorpions At Monza

It errupted into public consciousness with possibly one of the most memorable Super Bowl commercials in recent history. With an allure like that of an Italian supermodel and the promise of wicked fun, the Fiat Abarth 500 brought the Scorpion logo back to North America and has fueled many a fantasy based on speed and power.

This month's One-Off Challenge will celebrate the quick and nimble Abarth 500 at it's home track in Forza 6, Monza. Scorpions at Monza will take place August 25th at 9 PM on the Monza Full Circuit. Lobby will open around 8:30 with qualifying beginning at 8:45. This will be a 10 minute qualifying/warm-up session. Collision will be turned off so all can run clean laps, unhindered by traffic.

Perfornmance Index setting for these cars will be A-700. We are throwing the doors open on tuning options for this One-Off. Any tune from any source is available to you. We look forward to everyone participating in this celebration of Italian performance that doesn't involve a prancing horse or a bull. And if you want to get Catrinel Menghia's autograph, you'll need to get a pass for Chris Rader's paddock. Our understanding is the price of admission there is a bottle of Hennessy.
