Steppat Racing Takes FRL Season Crown

After 12 weeks of hard preparation and racing, the 2013 S2 season draws to a close. With 6 Overall Forzday wins, 26 Heat wins and 31 Top Laps, Andrew Steppat is crowned the FRL Series Champion for Season 2 2013. The always gracious driver was quoted at the end of the race at Laguna Seca as saying: "It was fun, the racing was good. Circuit de Catalunya gave us a bit of a scare again this year, but I'm glad to have another Championship win. I will miss the Miata class."

Looking at the race stats seems to back up his sentiment toward the little MX-5's, as he was truly dominant in the Mazda D class. His run in the 69' Camaro Trans Am car was nearly equally impressive though as he was consistantly in the top 3 in finishes throughout the season. Andrew also has the distinction of winning the Nurburgring Time Attack Challenge as well, held during the mid-point of the season. Congratulations to Andrew, your 69' Camaro Series Champion Trophy and 2011 Civic Si - Time Attack collectible will be in the mail soon.

Paul Maestri with MBR had a break-out season, surpassing his brother and teammate Ethan, to take the second position on the podium. His FR-S 2nd Place trophy will be arriving shortly. Ethan Maestri overcomes several setbacks on his season and claims the 3rd place prize, a 66' Shelby GT diecast collectible.

Stay tuned to the FRL blogsite for the full recap on the S2 FRL season, soon to come.

Brandon Adkins had a great night at Laguna Seca claiming a win in the first heat of Trans Am racing on Thursday night. Here is a clip from the final lap of that event.

  1. I definitely caught some breaks with Tsukuba with Ethan not being able to race at all and Paul continuously getting pummelled off the track by some newer drivers.
